Monday and Tuesday, October 30 and 31, 2017 (Lone Rock Campground, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area)

To start with, I wanted to post a picture that Steve took yesterday morning...totally missed it when downloading our pictures (that's what happens when you use 4 cameras!). It was a fabulous sunrise!
Monday was a pretty low-key day after a busy one yesterday. We left Ray at home recovering (he has a very bad back) and Deb, Steve and I made a trip into Page. Steve dropped Deb and I off at Walmart and went to fill our propane tanks. Why is it that you always run out of propane in the middle of the night? LOL!

While Steve was doing a few chores around the rig, he came across this fellow, a stick bug on the truck tire...

We sat outside relaxing for most of the afternoon. It was a much cooler day today...and cloudy. It's been awhile since we've had cloudy skies! Then it was campfire time...notice the slab of meat on the fire? Deb is cooking their dinner...steak grilled on briquettes next to an open campfire! Steve did ours on our barbecue grill.

Tuesday morning I tagged along with Ray and Deb when they went into town to run a few errands...leaving Steve at home to edit pictures.

After lunch, Steve took Ray and Deb out for a boat ride. Ray's recliner chair fit perfectly in the boat, allowing him to go out...otherwise his back would not have handled the ride.
The water is quite shallow for a bit so they had to do a little paddling...
Captain Steve's boat tour...
And they're off to explore Lone Rock Canyon by water....

About to enter the canyon...

Steve has to manoeuver between that narrow opening...
Once through it's a very sharp right...
Then a left...
The water is so clear but very deep...

The next two shots are from Ray...

As the canyon continues to narrow the water surface becomes very dirty so we turned around. The last time we were here we continued further until we could no longer paddle because the canyon became too narrow...

It's not much wider than the boat...

Lone Rock in the distance...

Dianne and Freya waiting for our return...
While they were gone, I did some prep for dinner tonight and worked on the blog...since Steve finally had all of the pictures ready from our sightseeing tour last Sunday.

Happy Halloween! Ray and Deb have a different flag for each of the special days throughout the year...
Tomorrows adventure is a tour of Upper Antelope Canyon!

  3. Having a smaller boat to explore would be such fun. I love all the reflection photos. During our last visit we rented a party boat with friends and spent the day exploring. You realize how large the lake is when you see how little you can explore in a full day rental. We have yet to do Antelope Canyon. This spring might be the year! Looking forward to your photos.

  4. How awesome is that boat ride! Gets pretty tight in spots by the look of it. Looking down into the clear water and seeing all the holes in the rocks, good work Capt. Steve.
