Saturday, April 22 to Sunday, April 30, 2017 (Fort Langley to North Saanich...and back)

Saturday morning I was up and out by 8:30, heading into Vancouver (driving my rented Cadillac :-)) to take care of a couple of appointments...and do a little shopping. After the beautiful sunny day yesterday, today was quite a contrast...cloudy and rainy. Steve got out for a quick walk then enjoyed a quiet day watching his shows on TV.

Sunday we packed our suitcases and were on the way to the ferry to spend a week with Rob, Angie and the grand kids. We parked the truck in the 'park and go' and took the shuttle bus, arriving in time for the 1:00 sailing.

Rob picked us up and after a couple of stops in Sidney, he dropped us off at the airport to pick up our rental car.

Angie's parents, Brian and Linda, are visiting from Winnipeg...so the boys had both sets of grandparents visiting. It was a full household for a few days. Also visiting (but not staying with Rob and Angie) were close family friends, Emery and Glenda, from Campbell River (about 3 hours or so 'up island'). We had a lovely dinner together...
And celebrated Glenda's Birthday. The boys never gave Glenda a chance to blow out her candles before they had them out...twice!
Our week was full of appointments, visiting friends and spending time with family. Lots of morning cuddles...
The shoes we bought for the grandkids at the Mexican Market in Indio, CA were a hit!
Bryce...
Conner was so excited about them that he had to take them to playschool to show all of his friends!
We met Steve's sister and her husband, Nadine and Mike, for lunch. Wonderful catching up with you!
I met some co-workers for lunch...great seeing Lynn and Gwen!
We also met our good friends, Rob and Nancy for breakfast...forgot to take a picture, but we enjoyed a wonderful couple of hours catching up with them. Wish we'd been able to spend more time with you this week!

Grampa enjoyed showing the boys pictures on the iPad...Bryce on the left and Conner on the right...
I also dropped our laptop off at Best Buy to have the Geek Squad install a new hard drive and transfer the data over. I'm not sure if I have mentioned it or not, but my new laptop that I purchased last August had an "imminent drive failure" warning a while ago and Dell sent out a replacement hard drive. Well, I guess the folks at Geek Squad had a heck of a time recovering the data from the defective drive. I managed to pick up my laptop on Friday but it did not have anything (other than Windows 10) on it. They will send the recovered data from the old drive over to the Best Buy in Langley once they have retrieved as much as they can from it.

Steve managed to get out for a walk along the Sidney waterfront one sunny afternoon. This is our favourite walk but I was unable to join him...soon, though...I had another "shot in my knee" and that, along with my custom orthotics, should have me good as new and walking and hiking again!

Friday night Chris and Angela came over from the mainland for the weekend. So nice to have all of our family together!

Saturday morning TV...love this picture as everyone is intently watching Paw Patrol (or something similar)...too funny! Chris, Bryce, Angie, Rob and Conner...
I had one final eye appointment Saturday morning for some extra tests. While I was doing that, Steve, Chris and Angela went for a walk along the Sidney waterfront...

Later that afternoon, my brother and his wife, Dwight and Helen, popped over for a visit. So very glad we were able to get together...even for just a short visit!

Rob, Helen, Angela and Chris...

Steve and Angie doing a "selfie"...
Sunday morning...a lovely relaxing start to the day and then one final family meal together. Brunch was delicious Rob and Angie...thanks! Steve, Conner, Rob, Chris Angela, Angie and Brycie...
We got our suitcases packed and then it was time for Brycie to open up an early birthday present from Uncle Chris and Auntie Angela...
A stuffed Paw Patrol character...'Tracker', I believe. Brycie was ecstatic with his gift...
Then it was time to return the rental car back to the airport and head to the ferry. Rob had to remove one of the car seats from the car so there would be room for two adults...he still had to make two trips to the ferry, though. He dropped Steve and I off first, then went back for Chris and Angela...good thing it's only about a five minute drive to the ferry terminal!

We enjoyed a lovely ferry trip with Chris and Angela and then we parted ways at the Tsawwassen terminal...they headed to their car parked in the ferry parking lot and we took the shuttle back to the park and go lot where our truck was.

Although a busy week, it was wonderful spending time with family...thanks, Rob and Angie for all of your hospitality! We plan on seeing Chris and Angela at least one more time before we leave the area for the summer.
