Thursday, January 8, 2015 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke up to clouds this morning...hey! What's with that? By late morning, though, they started to break and the blue sky and sunshine was back...whew! We enjoyed temps up into the mid 70's...ahhh!

We had had our usual start to the day and were just chilling inside...I was working on the blog and Steve was reading...when I got a text from Deb. They were heading out for a drive...so I responded saying if they wanted company, we were available. They stopped by 15 minutes later and picked us up.

We drove up to Rainbow Acres so they could see this lovely subdivision and then continued up to Erdman Mine...we wanted to show them this cool spot. Deb is looking out the window on the left and I'm on the right...with Ray and Freya in the doorway...

I don't think they want trespassers on the adjoining property...
All those tiny white specs along the base of the mountains are RV's...(Click to enlarge photos)

After checking out Rainbow Acres and the Erdman Mine, Ray and Deb wanted to show us Celia's Rainbow Gardens in Quartzsite. A very unique memorial garden with a Canadian connection...

The garden is right next to the RC Air Park...that's it in the distance...

There is one memorial made of rocks in the shape of Michigan, including the Mackinaw Bridge...

Adamsville miniature town...Celia's Rainbow Garden includes "Adamsville," a miniature village started in 1974 by Babe and Babs Adams at the RV park they lived at in Castle Rock. They donated the village to the Quartzsite Historical Society, who restored it and placed it here in 2001.

It was a very interesting walk through the memorial garden. If you checked out the link above on the Story of Celia, you'll know that she was only 8 years old when a viral infection attacked her heart and she died in her mother's arms...very sad. She was also the daughter of Paul, the owner of Oasis Bookstore in Quartzsite...AKA the Naked Bookstore Owner.

Two retired F4 Phantom fighter jets are parked on a street corner in a self-labeled "Freedom Garden."

We were on our way home and as we passed Kuehn Street, I said "We'll have to go to Beer Bellies sometime"...well, the general consensus was we should go now, so Ray turned around, found a parking spot and here we are...

A band was playing...

We enjoyed a beer, burger, the band...and the sunshine...and then we headed home. Thanks for letting us join you, Deb and Ray!

I spent what was left of the afternoon working on the blog while Steve relaxed in the shade outside. At 4:00 Deb, Ray, Pam and Red joined us for happy hour and we spent an hour and a half chatting until the sun went down and it got chilly...time to call it an evening. Another great day!
