Tuesday, November 4, 2014 (Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, AZ)

We woke to sunshine and beautiful blue sky...just love that big, beautiful blue sky! Although it was a chilly start, the sun quickly warmed things up.

At 9:00, Red came by and he and Steve went to the lagoons here in the park...Red wanted to go fishing. I think Steve would have loved to fish as well, but he doesn't have a fishing license.
Here is Red trying his luck for Crappie at the first stop on one of the lagoons...no luck...
Horseback riding is available here at the park...

How's the fishing Red? Crappie!

This fellow caught a little fish...

After about an hour and a half Steve was back and took his camera out to get some pictures of our campsite and the area...

That's Red and Pam's rig on the far left, Dale and Ruth to the right, there's an empty site...and then us...

View of Cottonwood and Jerome, above, from the hill behind our rig...

Another view of our three rigs...

Red is determined to catch a fish tomorrow...

At 12:30, Sherry and Jesse came by and picked up Red, Pam, Steve and I (Ruth and Dale work full time from their trailer, so were unable to join us)...we're going on a wine tasting tour!

Our first stop was at Javelina Leap Vineyard and Winery. Steve fell in love with this car parked in the lot...Now this would make a nice toad! His plates read IT FITZ...

Jesse, Sherry, Steve, Me, Red and Pam...

We tasted a few wines...they weren't all that popular with any of us...and then headed off for the next one...Page Springs Cellars Vineyards and Winery

We sat outside on the deck tasting a couple of more wines and enjoying the sunshine...very nice wine!

They have beautiful grounds...

A nice area down by the river where you can buy a glass of wine and take it down to have a picnic...

A great picture of Pam and Red...

Red and Steve don't drink wine, so after visiting two wineries, we thought we would go to a pub so they could have a beer...Bootleggers Beer Club...

Steve took a few pictures on the way back to the car...

We were back home shortly after 4:00. We chilled for a bit before we headed out for dinner...we were all meeting at Pizzeria Bocce in Old Town Cottonwood. We grabbed a ride with Red and Pam...thanks guys!

We enjoyed a great evening! Good food, good drink...good company!  From left to right...Jesse, Ruth, Dale, Red, Pam, Steve, Me, Bill, Sharon (friends of Sherry and Jesse), Sherry...

  1. This is a nice park. We were originally going to stay just a few days and ended up staying ten! It was a great central location to Sedona (we had a new Jeep and had to hit all the back roads), Jerome, and the Indian ruins. We loved that we could walk a trail into Cottonwood. Enjoy !
