Thursday, November 13, 2014 (Pleasant Harbor RV Resort, Peoria, AZ)

We had our usual start to the day and just as we were finishing our coffee, we had a call from Cec and Alan. They were currently at Usery Mountain Regional Park, outside of Mesa, with Rob and Joyce and since we were so close, decided to come our way for a visit. Alan and Cec; and Rob and Joyce are two couples that we met on our Alaska trip and we have had the pleasure of re-connecting with them whenever possible. We are so happy to be able to get together with them again!

After breakfast and getting cleaned up, Steve headed outside to load the boat back onto the truck...and get ready to check out an OHV area just west of here. After getting all his stuff together, along with a packed lunch, he and Red headed out. A short while later, Pam and I were on our way to check out some shopping areas not far from here.

Steve took pictures of their adventure. This is a map of the Boulders OHV Staging Area. It's located on highway 74 that takes you to Wickenburg just west of Lake Pleasant. The turnoff is between mile markers 11 and 12 on the north side of the highway, The staging area is located a mile away on a gravel road. There are several dry camping spots and a small concrete restroom facility.

There was a bunch of old junk and a watering trough at their first stop...

Lunch time with lots of great views...

Steve saw this Tarantula cross the trail after Red had driven over it...

When Pam and I returned from our shopping trip, there were two motorhomes parked in the dry camping area...Alan and Cec; and Rob and Joyce were here! After unloading groceries from Pam's truck...thanks for the great time wandering through Kohl's and then Walmart and Fry's, I really enjoyed it!...I walked over to greet the new-comers.

Steve and Red arrived back home just before 3:30...sounds like they had a great time on their quad ride! It was very scenic with trails all over the place.

At 4:00 we all gathered for happy hour...left to right...Pam, Red, me, Alan, Cec, Joyce and Rob...

As the sun went down, Steve got the Campfire-In-A-Can out. We had a lovely evening catching up. Alan and Cec are only here one night and then heading to Yuma...Rob and Joyce will be here for two nights and then are heading west to the Orange County area.
Another beautiful sunset...
