Sunday, March 3, 2013 (Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, Florence, OR)

We woke to clear sky this morning...what a great change from all of the cloud and rain!  It was still pretty chilly out though.  I don't think the thermometer got much above 49F/9C.

It was about noon by the time we headed out today...yeah, another lazy morning but today we did our resistance exercises.  We're going on another hike today...this time over to Woahink Lake which is on the other side of the highway.
First of all we had to find the trailhead...it was over in loop B of the campground.  The trail leads to a pedestrian bridge over the highway...

Of course, I had my GPS with me and was hunting for a geocache that was supposed to be somewhere along this trail.  Steve found it hidden under a log...the name of cache was "log it"...a good clue!

This part of the trail was a paved road...

But that changed into many side trails once we got closer to the lake...

We continued along the trail and crossed a bridge where Steve took these pictures of scuba divers in the lake...

The trail continued along the lake to another point...see the open green area on the other side? That's our destination...

...which involved crossing another bridge...

We made it to the East Woahink Lake day-use area. Steve took this picture where you can see both bridges we crossed.  Instead of taking the road, we followed the trail that goes along the lakefront.

Lunchtime...

Then it was time to look for another geocache nearby...found it!

Then it was time to head home.  We stopped at this group picnic area for a restroom break...

Now, this is the longest picnic table we have ever seen!

We were home just before 2:30...2 hours and 20 minutes, 4.78 miles/7.6 km and 2 geocaches...another great hike on a beautiful day!  We relaxed outside in the sunshine with a bottle of water and then decided to head inside as the sun went behind the trees.

It's much quieter in the campground tonight as the weekend ATV riders have left.  We hunkered down in front of the TV to watch another Vancouver Canucks hockey game.  Tonight they played the Calgary Flames...and lost 4-2.  Sheesh!

Tomorrow we will be going back to civilization as we head to Junction city, Oregon.  We have very weak and inconsistent mifi here so were unable to make our Sunday calls to family...hopefully, it will be better tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful and crazy sister-in-law, Suzanne...hope you have a great day and that my brother spoils you rotten on your day!  Love you!
