Monday, March 4, 2013 (Travel to Guaranty RV, Junction City, OR)

Today we are leaving the coast and going inland to Junction City, OR...just north of Eugene.  This is the area where we started our travels south last September when we attended the RV-Dreams Fall Rally.

We weren't in any hurry to leave since our drive was only about an hour and a half...so we had our usual relaxing start to the day.  After showers and a big breakfast, Steve headed outside to "putter around" before starting his pack-up while I got things cleaned up inside.
Steve up on the roof cleaning off the slider awnings...

The electrical cord is really hard to coil up when it's cold...not much traffic out on the road so Steve took it out there to battle with it...

This part of the campground is pretty empty during the week...

We had a leisurely pack-up and were ready to hit the road at about 11:30.

We continued north on highway 101 a short distance to Florence.  We crossed the Siuslaw River...

...and to the left...

Once in Florence, we turned off onto highway 126 east towards Eugene.  It was a very scenic drive along the river...

At the little community of Mapleton, there is a junction...go northeast on highway 36 or turn right to continue east on highway 126...

We turned right and crossed the river again...

The next thing we knew, we came to a tunnel...of course, our first thought upon seeing the sign saying "Tunnel Ahead" was oh, oh...sure hope it's big enough for us!

No problem...

And it was fairly long...

It was a very twisty, windy road lined with moss-covered trees...

Before reaching Eugene, Serena (GPS) had us turning left onto "Poodle Creek Road"...now, this sounded rather suspicious to me, and not totally trusting Serena's directions, I double check on google maps.  Yes, this is a cut-over road to highway 36 and Junction City rather than going all the way to Eugene and then heading north.

At this point, the landscape turned into open rolling ranch/farm land...

We arrived at Guaranty RV and after filling our fresh water tank, we selected a spot in their "camping" area...basically a paved parking lot.  Spots along the outer edge have 50 amp power hook-ups and we managed to get one of those this time (last September they were all taken).

It was only 2:00 by the time we got unhitched and the bare essentials setup inside (stuff removed from the bed and our recliners pulled out), so we decided to go shopping.  Steve had no problem with this shopping trip...we were going to his favourite store...Cabelas!

We made our way to the Cabelas store in Springfield, just a little east of Eugene...about a 25 minute drive from where we are in Junction City.  It was about 4:00 when we walked out of the store...Steve had new hunting boots, special insulated pants to wear under his new chest-waders (that he got at our trip to Cabelas last September), we both had light long-sleeved UV protection shirts to wear quading, and a little something special for our grandson, Conner (hope he likes it!).

We still had shopping to do at Costco as well as Walmart but we decided we had better leave it until tomorrow...after all, we needed to have something to do tomorrow while our fifth-wheel is being worked on.

Once we got back to the trailer, the sun had gone down behind some buildings.  It had been a really nice day...the last couple, as a matter of fact had been awesome...but that is all about to change.  Rain is set to hit after 4:00 a.m. tomorrow...and with 100% POP of rain...not showers...it sounds like we are in for a nasty day...or two.
