Tuesday, October 16, 2012 (Lone Rock Campground, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Rec Area, Utah)

It was another beautiful start to the day.  After our usual lazy start, Steve went out and took more pictures of the area...

While he was gone, I packed a lunch...then we both applied suntan lotion...and we were ready to head out in the boat.  It was just a gorgeous day to be out on the water!

This is Lone Rock...

We came across quite a few kayakers out on the water today...

This houseboat was nestled away in a small cove...

The camp host had said that there is a narrow canyon that you can boat into and quite often you will see mountain sheep.  It took a while to find the canyon but we did...but we didn't see any sheep.

The way the rock had been carved out was quite incredible...

The water ended up getting pretty scuzzy looking...so Steve turned the motor off and rowed further into the canyon...

We went in quite aways but Steve got tired of rowing and decided to turn around...

It was too narrow to row in a few spots...

Almost out...

We were looking for a beach to pull up onto so we could get out, stretch and have our lunch...and saw this fellow...

But we found another spot...

After lunch we decided to head back home...we'd had a great time exploring the canyon.  Once back, Steve decided to wash the boat...

...and then go for a swim...

He had to walk out quite a ways before it got deep enough (see him way out there??)...

A little later we went for a walk down to the end of the beach...it has really cleared out here but I would imagine it will get busy again by the weekend...

Some people got pretty creative...

From our trailer, it looks like you can walk all of the way to this beach but there is a cove so this is the end of the line...

Steve angled the two new solar panels to capture more sunlight...

Ahhhh....love it!

And the end to a perfect day!
