We woke to blue sky and sunshine this morning...a perfect day for ATV/BC’s annual Poker Ride.  It was just before 9:00 a.m. when our group hit the trails.

First checkpoint to draw for our poker hands...

The trail took us to all sorts of interesting areas...

Our second stop...and another card draw...

Al and Jeff...and me about to draw...

...and more beautiful countryside to see...

Lunch time...

A short break and we're off again...

Free-range cattle...

Some chose just the mud...others chose the big muddy puddle...

Our third checkpoint and card draw...

Rick and Don...Steve has just drawn his card...

Here are Deb and Dave Webb...they are from our club (Cowichan Valley ATV)...

Dave Webb...our ride leader fueling up!

This young fella put on quite a show for Steve doing this and many cat walks...not fast enough with the camera though...
Merritt...
And we're on our way back down...
Such a beautiful valley...
And we're home...

It was a great day...and the weather was fantastic!  There were 3 different rides you could go on...a short one, medium and long.  We had chosen the long ride...we were gone 6 hours.  All riders had to be back in by 4pm to draw their final card.

By 5:00 all of the cards had been reviewed by a team of very hard-working ladies and the winners determined.  It was time for everyone to assemble in the stands for the presentations.  Ralph Matthews from the South Cariboo Club was the MC.  Directors Doug & Ralph  with ATVBC President Zan Boyle...raffle prize a Can-Am 400 in the background...

First prize went to a young fellow with a poker hand of 4 fours...he was given a cheque for $3000!!  Lots of door prizes were given away by randomly drawing the poker cards.  Diane and Wes sitting on one side of us each won...Diane, a Can-Am helmet and Wes a Dometic cooler bag that plugs into a 12V outlet.  Glen and April sitting on the other side of us also each won...April a tool set and Glen, a helmet camera with a $399.00 sticker ...nice!  Lots of very nice prizes were given away...but Mario, Steve, and I who were sitting between the two winning couples didn't win a thing!  Oh well!

Poker card draw with a winner walking away with a motorcycle floor jack...

Ralph & Doug ready to draw the winner of these tires donated by Kal Tire...

The final draw was for the winner of the raffle...the Can-Am ATV...the tickets ($10) went on sale last March and were sold out.  The winner was a ticket sold by Ralph from 100 Mile House.

What a great day and a great event!  A lot of hard work went into it and it was fantastic...a wonderful group of people!

Happy Canada Day everyone!!
