Sunday, July 24, 2016 (Travel to Irvin's RV Park and Campground, Valemount, BC)

It was 10:30 when we pulled out of our site at North Thompson River Provincial Park and continued north on highway 5. We had a relatively short 2 1/2 hour drive to our next destination...Valemount. We have reserved a site at a private park so we can have full hook-ups...I know, odd for us, but with no generator (until it gets serviced), old batteries that don't hold a charge...and iffy sunshine for solar, we chose to go with a private park. Full hook-ups...aww...darn! LOL!

Pictures on today's blog are of the beautiful scenery...and mainly of the North Thompson River since we followed it for the most part all of the way to Valemount...

Wildlife! A young Bull Moose with felt still on it's antlers ran across the highway...
I managed to capture shots of a waterfall in the distance...

As we get closer to the Rockies the glacial silt is changing the colour of the North Thompson River...
Dominion Creek...

At about 1:00, we arrived in Valemount...of course, with no rain in the forecast we hit rain just as we were approaching! There goes 6 hours of washing the rig down the tubes!

And our destination...Irvin's RV Park and Campground...

We parked at the office and were greeted by a very nice lady who checked us in and assigned us site #27...a large pull through site with 50 amp power for $37 per night. We leveled off, unhitched and got started with our set up. They have free WiFi, laundry, showers, propane, volley ball, horseshoes, and ping pong...

After we were all set up, Steve relaxed outside with his iPad reading while I sat at the table inside with the laptop working on our blog.

We plan on spending a few nights here...exploring the area...maybe a little hiking...perhaps ATVing?? Looking forward to it!

  1. Should be a great place to get the quads out. The snowmobile staging areas you passed on the way in should also be a nice quad ride in the summer. If you haven't already picked a repair place I would recommend Trailblazer RV in Acheson Ab. They did my gen install in April and have been great to work with the last couple of years. There are a couple big rig campgrounds close to there as well.
