Monday, July 18, 2016 (Travel to Raven's Nest RV Park, West Kelowna, BC)

We weren't in any hurry to get on the road this morning...we only had about an hours drive to our next destination. We said goodbye to the other stragglers that had stayed the extra night...and were the last ones to pull out. It was around 11:00.

After stopping to dump the tanks, we headed to highway 97C, also known as "the connector" that goes over the mountains to the Okanagan Valley. We just love the countryside in this area...it was also a beautiful day!

Brenda Mines tailing reclamation...
Down, down...down we go!
Steve doesn't recall ever going on such a long downhill grade in any of our travels...

Beautiful Okanagan Lake...the area is very popular to tourists and vacationers during the summer months...

Welcome to West Kelowna!
We made our way to Raven's Nest RV Park, a new park that just opened up last May. There was no office, so we made our way to site 56, the site that had been assigned to us according to the confirmation email we received. A few minutes later, the owner of the park came over. The park is not fully operational...with the office, showers and laundromat still to be built but at $35/night with full hookups, it was really quite a good deal for this area. At this point, the sites aren't anything special...but wide, fairly level gravel (tiered hillside) with sewer, water and 50 amp services. I expect that by the time they get it finished...including greenery, it will be a busy RV Park. So I'm sure by next year, the prices will also go up! We had an end site with easy access...and no one on our awning side. We had a lovely hillside view overlooking a busy highway towards Mt. Boucherie.

We were just finishing our set up when my brother and sister-in-law (Dennis and Suzanne) pulled in. I had sent a text to them this morning when we left...and thought it odd I hadn't had a response. Well, I guess they had also sent us a text with no response...they happened to be driving by and noticed that we were there. Well, a re-boot of his phone fixed our communication problem.

After big hugs hello, I gathered our laundry and loaded it into their jeep...Suzanne had offered up their washer and dryer...bonus!! Thanks! We made a stop at the liquor store and were soon at their condo. They had just purchased it last fall before heading to Indio, California for the winter. So they've been very busy painting and decorating since returning last spring!

Suzanne is holding Dunkin as he shows off his new plaid collar...looking pretty spiffy! Dennis and I on the left...

Dennis, me, Suzanne and Dunkin...

They have a nice view of Okanagan Lake...a thunderstorm is rolling in...

Kelowna is getting wet...
Steve and Dunkin...
Dennis is barbecuing chicken out on the deck...
While Steve and Suzanne make faces for the camera...LOL...
And Dunkin has a snooze in his bed...

We had a fabulous dinner of ribs, chicken, caesar salad, rice and corn-on-the-cob...yum! Thanks guys! We enjoyed an after dinner walk and after chatting for a little longer, they drove us back to the RV park. Looking forward to spending the next couple of days visiting...see you tomorrow!
