Friday, February 5, 2016 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Friday ended up being a pretty laid back kind of day. After breakfast, Steve rode his quad over to drop off garbage in the trash bins and was gone quite a while...turns out he stopped and did a bunch of visiting along the way. It turns out that a fellow he met at the Tulalip Casino last fall when he parked beside us is here. He was telling Steve that he fixed his awning motor shaft above their entry door on their motor home but didn't have enough hands to get it back up into it's mounting slot, so Steve gave him a hand with that. While he was gone, I started preparing the Chicken Satay for this afternoon's appetizer barbecue that Eric had invited us to.

While Steve worked outside, replacing the plug receptacle on the 30 amp power cord, I sat inside at the table taking care of some banking. After lunch, we both sat out in the sunshine. Steve relaxing in his anti-gravity chair...and I sat crocheting...a nice lazy afternoon.

At 3:30 we wandered across the road to Earl and Allison's and joined the group...Eric, Janet, Art, Jan, Bob and Sue...for the appetizer barbecue. The next fours hours were spent enjoying everyone's favourite creations.
Bob and Sue started our eating marathon off...bacon wrapped figs stuffed with cheese plus spicy sausage "nests" with cheese and jalapenos...

Next was Art and Jan with clam "balls" (made from clams that they dug, up on the coast of Washington State - they ground some up and canned them)...they also brought a plate of homemade pickles, along with some deviled eggs...

Me, Eric and Janet...with Abbey...

We were next...chicken satay...
Steve barbecued them...
The finished product...served with peanut sauce...
Then it was Eric and Janet's turn...
Kabobs served with rice...

And last but not least was Earl and Allison's salmon served with potato salad. We were obviously just too busy eating that we, unfortunately, forgot to get a picture of it....drats! Dessert was carrot cake with cream cheese icing that Janet had picked up at a store in town.

ALL the food was absolutely delicious...and we were stuffed by the time we were finished. The sun had gone down by this time...so a fire was lit in the fire pit and everyone moved over. Just before 8:00, we called it an evening and waddled home. Another great late afternoon and evening with good friends!
