Thursday, January 15, 2015 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Pam texted me this morning to see if I wanted to do a little geocaching in the area near the RC airfield while Red and Steve watch the fellows from the Desert Flyers RC Club flying their airplanes...sure! So at about 9:30 we wandered over to their place and then we all headed into Quartzsite.

The guys joined the group at the airfield...watching and taking pictures.

One of the fellows was slightly injured on the hand by the propeller while holding his friends plane when the pilot accidentally started it. Yikes!

 Upside down...

 Spitfire...

And Pam and I headed off with our GPS's in hand. Hey Earl...Pam found one of your hides (actually we found another one further along the road too)...

There is a lovely walking path along the side of Plymouth Road...we had a great walk and were back at the airfield an hour later. This is an Ocotillo plant made out of metal...very cool...

Back at La Posa South, we drove down to the Tiffin motorcoach group where Dave and Diane are parked. Dave was out and about, but we had a nice chat with Diane and Pam invited them down later for happy hour and dinner.

After lunch Steve headed back into town for fresh water, propane and gas, while I stayed home cleaning up a few things around the trailer.

When he was back, we decided to jump on our quads and ride down to see Ray and Deb. Steve was quite a distance in front of me and when he reached the main road, there was a small break in traffic so he pulled out and a little further back were a couple of BLM Ranger trucks. Well, just as he is pulling into Ray and Deb's driveway, the lights and siren go on and the Rangers follow him in. They asked if he had I.D. on him and questioned him on the California Non-Resident OHV permit he had on his quad as a BC resident. We were under the impression that we needed them to ride here in Arizona...some kind of reciprocal agreement between California and Arizona. Apparently not! All that is needed here in Arizona is whatever is legal in your state/province you call home.  He questioned Steve on our requirements in BC. Steve told him that BC just brought in registration and licensing last November and would be mandatory by June. So after a chat and Steve showing him his photocopy of his driver's licence and liability insurance for the quad the Ranger said you look like an honest guy so I'll take your word for it. Meanwhile, when I saw him being pulled over, I didn't know what I should do...just then, I saw Dave (Hdrider) walking towards me, so I pulled over, turned off my machine and sat chatting with him until the Rangers left. Steve gave me a hard time and called me a chicken sh#t about that...I just thought it best to not join him with the Rangers. Heck, if they were giving him a ticket (for what?) why risk getting 2 tickets! Deb tried taking a picture out of the front window of their motorcoach but she accidentally deleted it...darn!

We sat outside visiting with Ray and Deb for about an hour or so and then headed back home to get ready to go over to Red and Pam's for a small gathering of RV-Dreamers.

Dave and Diane arrived at the same time as Steve and I wandered across. We all sat outside in the late afternoon sun chatting....Dave, Diane, Red Pam and Steve

...and then both Red and Dave brought out their quad-copters...this is Dave's "Toy"

Dusty landing...

Then Red brought out one of his model airplanes...poor Steve is drooling, he'd love to have one!

As the sun went down, Red got his grill out and we all barbecued our meat...

...and then went inside where Pam had prepared baked potatoes and salad. We enjoyed a lovely dinner inside...thanks, Pam and Red!

Dave, Diane, Steve and I sat at the dining table and Pam and Red at a table in front of the sofa...

After dinner, we all went back outside and sat around the propane campfire. We all called it a night around 8:00...another great day and there's more to come!
