Sunday, November 30, 2014 (Travel to Country Roads RV Village, Yuma, AZ)

We pulled out of Gunsight Wash BLM at 9:30 this morning and headed north on highway 85. This is the huge US Customs and Border Protection  facility just outside of Why...
 Interesting countryside...

We went through a border check...
We met up with I-8 at Gila Bend and headed west...

Yuma in the distance...

We arrived at Country Roads RV Village at about 12:45 and after stopping at the gate, were given directions to lot 270. Alan and Cec had arranged with the owners for us to rent the site for a week...thanks for your help, guys!

As we pulled up to the lot, Alan and Cec greeted us on their bikes and helped us get backed into it. Not being angled at all, along with a beautiful huge tree smack-dab in the middle of the lot and a brick fence on the other side, made for a bit of a tricky back in job for Steve. After a few failed attempts from the drivers side he went around the block to make another attempt from the dreaded blind side, eventually making it. Alan also had to trim the palm trees at the back of the site. We even managed to squeeze the truck in slightly to one side of the trailer...the tree overhangs the concrete driveway, so the truck wouldn't fit there. Both our neighbour and Alan even hauled away the palm branches...thanks guys!

After a quick bite to eat, we got to work. Steve started getting the outside stuff set up while I vacuumed before setting up inside and gave the bathroom a good scrubbing...yay for free running water with sewer hookups!

Once all the work was done, we relaxed for a few minutes, and then called Steve's dad to wish him a happy birthday. By then it was going on 4:00 and time to walk down to Alan and Cec's place...for drinks and dinner.
Front of their site...

Friends and next door neighbours, Becky and Tim from Oregon joined us...

Alan and Cec cooking dinner on their pellet barbecue...Yum!

Steve managed to capture this picture just as we all had our mouths full (LOL!)

We had a wonderful time and a delicious dinner...thanks so much Alan and Cec! Alan also helped us get our bearings as far as where main shopping areas were from here...Walmart, Fry's, etc. Once the sun began to set and the temperature dropped Alan lit the propane campfire.

Tomorrow morning we will meet up with Cec and Alan and going down to the office to get our security name badges and gate pass...and check out the park a bit more. Then we'll be off to Los Algodones for Steve's dentist appointment...stay tuned!
