Saturday, October 25, 2014 (Bullards Beach State Park, Bandon, Oregon)

We were woken by the rain and wind at about 2:30 this morning...it was early, the storm wasn't forecast to hit until later in the morning around 11:00. The awning was out, so we had to get up...Steve went outside to release it and then I pushed the button to retract it. It was tough getting back to sleep after that. Winds were forecast to be as high as 50 mph with gusts as high as 70 mph! At one point we thought our large side picture window was going to blow in. If we put our slides in the only place accessible is the fridge and bathroom...we weren't going to spend the day in there.

So we basically spent the day hunkered down inside...again...as the rain pelted down and the wind rocked the trailer. The power went out shortly after 7:00 a.m. and was off until 4:00 p.m.

We did manage to get out for a short walk around the campground late morning...in a rare reprieve from the rain. We walked around loop B, which is closed, and our loop, C. These are yurts in our loop...

And our site, C8...

We were back at our site when one of the park volunteers came by in his cart. We had a nice chat with him and just as we said goodbye, it started pouring again. Good timing with our walk!

And that was pretty much our day. There is more rain forecast for tomorrow but not the wind, so we hope to get out and see some of the area before we leave on Monday.

  2. Sorry your trip down the coast has had so much rain. Who knew that there would be so many hurricanes out in the pacific to cause such storms this time of year. Your pictures are beautiful though.
