Saturday, June 21, 2014 (Coldspring Campground, E.C. Manning Provincial Park, BC)

I'm glad I put that extra blanket on the bed last night...it was cold when we woke up this morning...7C/44F in the trailer! Steve got up, lit the propane heater, put the coffee on and then quickly got back into bed to warm up. We laid there snuggled under the covers waiting for the tell-tale sound that the coffee was ready. When I didn't hear it...and it should be finished by now...I got up to check. Nope, the coffee wasn't ready...there was no flame...we'd run out of propane! Sheesh! That got Steve out from under the nice warm covers...and outside to switch over the propane tank. Yes, it definitely got cold out last night...the thermometer said it was 2C/34F! Brr...but the sky was clear blue...yay! A good start for the first day of summer...sure hope it stays that way!

We enjoyed a lazy start to the day drinking our coffee as the sun streamed through the windows...ahhh...

We decided to go for a hike today but thought that we would wait until after lunch...let it warm up a bit more. So at 12:30 we left our site walking through the campground to the trail head of the Canyon Nature Trail.

We decided that we would hike to the Lightning Lake Day Use Area, so that involved doing half of the Canyon Trail and then taking the trail to the lake...

The Canyon Nature Loop Trail is beautiful...

This fellow was walking towards us as we came to a curve in the trail...Steve managed to get a couple of good shots with his camera...

The trail to Lightning Lake wasn't quite as picturesque...

That's a trout swimming above the flooded trail...

We made it!

Time for a bit of a rest break before heading back...

When we reached Canyon Nature Trail, we finished the loop back to the campground. There were tons of these pretty little flowers along the side of the trail...

Up we go...

You can see the fenced in lookout on the other side of the river...that is the trail we took when we left the campground...

There's the footbridge in the distance that goes back over the river to the campground...

We were back at our site just before 3:30...hot and tired after a great afternoon hike. After putting our stuff away...ahhh...it was good to put flip-flops back on....we sat outside enjoying the sunshine.
