Saturday, July 5, 2014 (Leighton North Campground, Tunkwa Provincial Park, BC)

Today's blog post is going to be picture intensive...we went on a 6.5 km hike around the lakes....just thought I would warn you!

Steve was up and out on the water by 8:00 this morning...it was just beautiful out and no wind!

Steve was back in shortly after 10:00...apparently fishing wasn't any better than yesterday afternoon. He had a bite to eat and then we headed out on our hike.

This is a picture of our campground from the west side as we head to the start of the trail...

Never seen these before...
 And we're off...

Down we go...Tunkwa Lake...Leighton Lake in the distance. The trail up to the lookout was a spur off the main trail, so we had to return the way we came until we reached the main trail and then continue on the loop...

It was a lovely hike around the lakes...it felt good to get out for some exercise! Back home we puttered around a bit and then Steve went inside to download all the pictures and start his edit work. He was doing that and I was reading when Steve looked up and said "look who's here!" Earl and Allison were just pulling into the campground...what a great surprise! We weren't expecting them until tomorrow.

They backed into site 3 beside us and after a quick greeting, we left them alone to get set up...telling them that happy hour was over at our place when they're done.

This is the first time we have actually met up with them in Canada. Although they live just up island from us in Royston, we have never had a chance to connect with them in the summer until now. We're looking forward to enjoying a few days here, getting a little quad riding and fishing in...and then we are all heading to Three Valley Gap near Revelstoke for the GPS event.

And the day ended with another beautiful sunset...
