Friday, February 21, 2014 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We were having a relaxing morning trying to decide what to do when Earl called to see if we wanted to go out geocaching...Bob and Sue had extended a string of caches northwest of Quartzsite and we hadn't found them yet, so today was the day.

We headed out at 10:30...Art joined us, so there was Earl and Allison on their 2-up, Art, Steve and I. We headed west, across the highway, through La Posa Tyson Wash...towards the hills. It never ceases to amaze me the number of trails there are. We took a great route towards the Dome Rock area.

After a 50 minute ride, we took a break at this spot near Dome Rock...Earl and Allison hid a geocache here...

We crossed under the I-10 and headed east a short distance to the start of the string of caches...

A very trick hide, Bob, inside a dead Cholla Cactus...
...and another...

This one was on the end of a dead Ocotillo branch, stuck in with all the other branches...

Ocotillo in bloom....

The desert is starting to bloom...

We finished the string, gathering twenty-some caches...enough to hit our 500th geocache find! Then we decided to turnaround and go back to where Dome Rock Road crosses the Interstate but instead of crossing back, we continued west. There is another geocache over there, why not go find it?

Just enough room to get a quad through...

 More flowers...

We made it to the spot overlooking the I-10 (geocache is called IC10) and it wasn't long before Earl suggested to Steve to look under some stacked rocks...

We decided to carry on further west...let's see where this trail goes...
 Great view!

 Pear Cactus in bloom...

At this point, we had to decide whether to turnaround or continue...Earl and Art were pretty sure we could find Tom Wells Road that would take us back across the I-10. We decided to continue...

We found Tom Wells Road and crossed over to the south side of the I-10 and headed east on the pipeline road...

It was going on 4:30 when we got back home...another great day out on our quads! I cleaned up and put all of our stuff away while Steve loaded the quads into the truck. Tomorrow we are all driving up to Parker and offloading the quads on the road to the Desert Bar. We're going to do a little exploring on the trails before hitting the bar for lunch. Should be fun!
