Friday, December 20, 2013 (Travel to North Saanich, BC)

First of all, I want to wish my big brother, Dennis, a very very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have/had a great day!

I didn't have a very good sleep last night...no problem getting to sleep but I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Hmmmm....excited about being with our family for the Christmas Season???

Needless to say, we had an early start to the day and after showers and going down to the lobby for a bite to eat (free continental breakfast included), we found ourselves ready to go...it was shortly after 7:00 and we weren't scheduled to catch the shuttle until 8:30. So I called the front desk to see if we could take an earlier shuttle...no problem, we can catch the 8:00 one to the airport.

Steve took some pictures of the hotel before we left...

 Lots of puddles...

We arrived at the airport, found the WestJet counter, I printed our boarding passes (I had gone on-line last night and checked in), dropped our suitcases off, had gone through security...and it was only 8:30! It was nice gong through security before there was a huge line up.  We found our gate and settled in to do some reading...and wait for our flight boarding at 10:30.

Our flight left a few minutes before it's scheduled departure of 11:05 a.m. The flight was quite turbulent in spots over Utah and Washington, with the captain coming on explaining that this is unreported turbulence and asked everyone to remain seated with their seat belts on until we reached a lower flight level that was smoother...

Eastern edge of the Grand Canyon...

About three and a half hours later we landed at the Victoria International Airport...a little late from bucking a head wind all of the way. And there was the snow that had been forecast...a bit of a novelty when we do get it...

It seemed to take forever to get off the plane...wait for our luggage and get through Customs...but we finally exited, to our surprise, Rob greeted us with Conner...we were expecting Angie but Rob had taken the day off.  After a stop in Sidney, we were home...to lots of snow!

Look out Grandpa!!

Rob and Angie preparing dinner...

Who needs a swing when I got dad...

Our youngest son Chris and his fiance Angela (from Burnaby, BC) were surprised when they managed to catch the 3:00 ferry over to the island...they arrived at the house just before 5:00...

Along with Dexter...

We are looking forward to a week home and lots of family time!
