Tuesday, August 13, 2013 (Eagle River Campground, Chugach State Park, Anchorage, Alaska)

We were up and out by 9:45 this morning...today we were going to visit the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum in Anchorage. We made our way through downtown Anchorage...

A cool way to see the city...

We arrived at the museum at about 10:30, paid our entrance fee ($10...two-for-one using the coupon saver book).

P-40 fighter wreckage with bullet holes...

WWII section...it's not well known that one of the largest battles of the Pacific was fought in the Aleutians...

Alaska Airlines 737 cockpit...

Hanger and display area under construction...

Be sure to read the last paragraph...amazing!

Hood Lake is the largest seaplane base in the world...

Restoration area...

Steve checking out the Boeing 727 cockpit...

It was after 1:00 by the time we were finished (or should I say, Steve was finished) at the museum.

We left there and found a Sears mall where I managed to get  the battery replaced on my watch.  There also happened to be a Safeway there, so I picked us a few things we needed for our happy hour this evening.

After a stop at the new Walmart, not far from the campground, we were home. We had invited the group down to our place for happy hour today.  At around 4:30, Cec and Alan arrived, followed a little later by Sue and Bob and finally Joyce and Rob.

And this is Marco and Polo...they belong to Rob and Joyce...

It was 8:00 when everyone retreated back to their motor coaches.  Another great evening with great folks!
