Thursday, February 21, 2013 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke to beautiful blue skies this morning...a nice change from yesterday. Shortly before 10:00 we rode our quads over to Earl and Alison's.  We're looking forward to our ride today...our last ride in Arizona for the season.

After "picking up" Earl (Alison stayed home today), we carried onto Bob and Sue's place.  The five of us were heading out for the day...Bob, Earl, Steve and I on our quads and Sue in her side-by-side Razor.  We are going to the site of the old Cinnabar Mine.

Earl was leading the way again and stopped where a geocache was located...Magic Foot...named for the human footprint that is in the rock...

It took a bit of time but with the help of Earl and Sue we found the cache...our first of the day.

Although it was a little chilly this morning (we actually wore our long-johns), it was a beautiful day.

We came to this very rough spot...apparently it is a lot easier to get through than it used to be.  Earl went through first and then took a great video of each coming through.  I have never posted a video to my blog and would think it would take quite a bit of our data usage on our MiFi...I'll have to check into that, maybe you-tube?

Yes, my back left tire is off the ground...
Sue's turn...
Steve...
And finally Bob...

We had a lot of rocky rough places to go through but that was the worse part of the trail.  After that, it was time for a rest...
...before continuing...

We stopped at this man-made watering hole for wildlife...as I understand it, the water is collected as it comes down the hillside...

We carried onto more great scenery...

...and another geocache find...

Big Horn Sheep...(Click on pictures to enlarge)

We made it to the site of the old Cinnabar Mine (see article on the history of the mine)...and another cache...

We figured this was the living quarters of the mine manager...

And Dianne walking around in circles trying to find another geocache...

Careful!

Sue let Steve try out her Razor...

He said it was fun...but like driving in the Baja 500 keeping up with Bob.  I had a try in it after Steve...I drove through a very bumpy wash...lots of fun!

We basically hightailed it home...it was a long ride and we wanted to get the quads loaded back into the truck and get as much packed up tonight as we could.  It was cool with the wind and we were glad when all the work was done...it had been a wonderful day and we were pooped!

We relaxed the rest of the evening, had a light dinner and called it an early night...we wanted to get an early start in the morning.  Time to start our trek north.
