Friday, November 9, 2012 (Crossroads BLM Campground, Parker, AZ)

It was a mild start to the day but the wind had started...Steve decided that he had better put the awning up before we go anywhere today.  After our exercises, showers and breakfast we were ready to head off...it was just after 10:30.  Today we had a few errands to do and we were also going to explore the area a bit.

Our first stop was to get an empty propane tank filled...then it was onto Parker Mail Center (notice I am spelling the American way...not “Centre”, the Canadian way...LOL).  The warranty replacement tire sensor that Steve had been waiting for had arrived.
Now, it was time to explore a bit.  We wanted to take a look at both La Paz County Park as well as Buckskin Mountain State Park.  Very windy and very dusty today...

This was a particulary bad spot we drove through...approaching the turnoff to the casino...

Then we turned off the highway onto River Road...a very scenic drive along the riverfront...

Here are some pictures of La Paz County Park...quite a popular spot...

There is a big Jeep Rally this weekend...the group camping area was filling up and there were lots of Jeeps everywhere...

We then continued along River Road towards Buckskin Mountain State Park...

Buckskin Mountain State Park is very nice, although we thought a bit pricey at $30/night for a State Park.

This is the day-use area...

And a lovely little desert garden...

After we finished our tour of the parks, we thought we would try a floating restaurant for lunch.  We went to The Roadrunner first...it was definitely floating on the river but it was just too windy and since it was totally open with no place to get out of the wind, we decided to try another place.

We drove a short distance to Fox's Floating Bar & Restaurant...it was similar to Roadrunner but it had an indoor spot where we could get out of the wind...

It certainly wasn't what we were expecting, but we had a lunch here and then headed back to Parker.  This is a picture of our campground across the river...

We stopped at Walmart to pick up some bottled water and then after trying to find the Radio Shack store that Serena (our GPS) said was in Parker...it obviously was no longer there...we headed back to the campground.  We spent the rest of the day chillin' inside out of the wind.  Hopefully, we just have one day of wind and we are back to our clear blue sky and hot temps soon.
