Wednesday, March 14, 2012 (Travel to Laughlin, Nevada)

It was shortly before 10:00 a.m. when we left Constellation Park and headed to the Wickenburg Community Center and the sani-dump.  After hunting down Rose, we paid our $10 and she unlocked the dump.  That didn’t take long and we were soon on our way to Wickenburg Tire...one final stop before hitting the road to Laughlin.

At Wickenburg Tire, they removed the back trailer tire and the spare tire and put the spare tire on the regular rim.  Apparently the metal cords under the tread inside the tire were separating...and was very dangerous.  Thank goodness that fellow had stopped to let us know that we had a problem with the tire.

Shortly after 11:00 we were on our way north on highway 93.  We came across some unusual trees...Joshua Trees.  Apparently the trees grow strongly along US 93 between Wickenburg and Kingman...known as the Joshua Forest Parkway.

Further down the highway we were out of the Joshua Forest and into some very rocky terrain...

We stopped at “Nothing” for lunch...population 4 at its peak.  I think Nothing has seen better days!

I'm not sure but I think the name of this canyon may be Wild Burro...beautiful...

The last stretch into Laughlin was quite a decline as we left the mountains and descended into the Colorado River valley.

We crossed the bridge from Bullhead City, AZ into Laughlin, NV and turned left onto Casino Drive.  It was just after 2:30 as we pulled into the parking lot of the Riverside Casino...and joined lots of other RVer’s who had set up camp.  We are too long to fit into the parking spots without blocking traffic...so we had to unhitch.

Dennis and Suzanne are at the RV Park across the street and saw us pull in.  They walked over and greeted us and then went next door to the Aquarius Casino...we will meet them there once we are set up.   We are only staying the night so after unhitching and levelling, our set up only required moving stuff off our bed so we would be able sleep on it.

So it wasn’t long before we headed to the riverside walkway...a beautiful walkway that goes along the Colorado River joining the various Casinos.

After walking around the whole casino, we finally found Dennis and Suzanne...they were in a small alcove that we hadn’t seen.  Dennis had given good directions as to where they would be...I just didn’t follow them very well!  We spent a couple of hours at the Aquarius Casino...I gave a $21 contribution while Steve broke even (well...he lost 7 cents).

Dennis and Suzanne had a couple of 2 for 1 coupons for the buffet at the Riverside Casino so we thought we would go there for dinner.  But first, we walked over to the RV Park and had a cocktail at their place.

Totally stuffed (one tends to do that when faced with all those food choices that a buffet has to offer), we decided to call it a night and go back to the trailer and watch some episodes of Alcatraz that we had downloaded.  It was a very warm night...the first time that it hasn’t cooled down significantly once the sun goes down.

Steve took these pictures of the casinos all lit up before heading inside...
