It really wasn’t a very eventful day today.  Although the forecast wasn’t that great...the bank of clouds stayed off on the horizon and it was mainly sunny.
Since Steve hadn’t heard back from the fellow at Quality Bumper about the bike rack, he called him...well, I guess Thule would not cover the warranty saying that the bike rack was not meant to be used on the back of an RV....bull$*#!  He was fed a bunch of crock! The Thule catalogue says it also fits an 11/4’’ receiver for an RV and that’s all it will fit unless you use the 2” sleeve adaptor that it comes with to fit a vehicle receiver. Oh well he was only the messenger and we are not in a position to argue since we are on the road and need the bike rack fixed before we continue on the road.  We wouldn’t recommend the Thule 990XT Doubletrack as it bounces too much because of the sloppy fit in either size receiver. So after being unsuccessful in finding a welder that would weld the main support arm of the rack (because of liabilities), Steve ended up calling Quality Bumper back and asking them to order in the part from Thule.  The cost of shipping the part from Colorado would be more than the cost of the part if we wanted it expedited, so we settled on regular delivery...it will take about a week to get here.  Good thing we managed to get a site here until the 27th!
Notice the bungee cords holding the bikes from leaning more...
The arm is completely cracked from the main support...

Starting to crack...

Since it was quite a nice afternoon, we thought we would go for a bit of a hike.  We chose the Romero Ruins Interpretive Trail...it is only a ¾ mile loop but the trailhead was probably a mile walk from our campsite.  The Romero Ruin is an archaeological site that includes the remains of a Hohokam village dating back to about 500 A.D.

Beautiful view of the mountains along with all the cactus...

Some of the cactus are in bloom...

Partially restored ruins...

Ruins with cactus in bloom...

This cactus is in full bloom...the picture doesn't do it justice...the colours are just beautiful...

And back down we go..."an action picture"...

After our hike, we relaxed in our chairs reading and enjoying the sunshine for awhile until the clouds finally overtook the sun and it got quite chilly out.  At that point, we headed inside and watched TV...I also started researching our next stop.  We were going to go to the Wickenburg area and do some ATV’ing but Steve mentioned that he wouldn’t mind going to Lake Pleasant instead so he can take the boat out for a run.  Lake Pleasant Regional Park is just north of the Phoenix area...so it looks like we are going to start our gradual return north...
